Governor Ritter signed a bill on Thursday that will pull money from Colorado's largest public pension fund out of investments in Sudan.
Back in February, Chronicle staff reporter Michael Beckel took a look at legislative and advocacy efforts that raise awareness about and attempt to impact genocide in the country's Darfur region. Beckel's follow-up found more local buzz and the campus chapter of Amnesty International taking up the cause in the absence of a STAND organization.
Colorado, like California, Vermont and Iowa, based its legislation on a model developed by the Sudan Divestment Task Force.
