Get up, get into it, get involved: Disco equinox edition

It's actually a pretty quiet weekend on the activism front, perhaps due to CSU being on spring break and everyone avoiding a scheduling conflict with March Madness. But that isn't stopping Fort Collins Democrats from holding another town hall meeting.

On Saturday, March 22, Senator Bob Bacon and representatives Randy Fischer and John Kefalas will host a forum on higher ed, with David Skaggs, a former U.S. Congressman and the recently appointed executive director of the state Department of Higher Education and of the Colorado Commission on Higher Education. The meeting will take place at the Harmony Library, at the corner of Harmony and Shields in Fort Collins, from 9:30 - 11:00 a.m.

On Saturday evening, the volunteer club Las Buenas Banditas will hold a Solid Gold Party to benefit veterans in need, with funds going to the National Veterans Foundation. The party, open to the public, will be held in the Agave Room (that's upstairs) at the Rio, at 143 W. Mountain Avenue in Fort Collins. Admission is $40 and includes food, drink and a raffle.

And don't forget to check out the Chronicle's listings and music calendar for what else is going on around the county.
