In today's Los Angeles Times, black Obama critics express surprise that white America would so widely support a black candidate. Campaign donations seem to have shown evidence of that for some time, however, even here in Larimer County.

Back in June, we reported that local finance trends mirrored national ones, with Democrats raking in more than Republicans by a three-to-two ratio. In addition,

Obama is the principle recipient of itemization-worthy local donations, and his war chest alone accounts for a third of that intake, including a $2,300 donation from philanthropist Pat Stryker.
