BREAKING: Christian author to challenge Fischer

According to the Larimer County Republican Party website (click the 2008 Candidates tab and scroll down), Donna Westover Gallup is running for House District 53 against first-term Democratic Representative Randy Fischer. Gallup is a Christian fiction writer. Her bio, on her website, reads:

Donna Westover Gallup is a poet and a musician. She currently works at Colorado State University and holds a B.S. degree in business/pre-law from Liberty University and an M.B.A. from University of Phoenix. ... In her free time, Donna enjoys riding horses and writing stories. Her desire it [sic] to convey God's love through ficition [sic].

Apparently, Christian writers are too busy spreading the gospel to worry about spelling. Holla readers may be familiar with her books, White as Snow and Rock of Refuge, which are the first installments of her Mysterious Ways series.

Gallup will have a tough race against Fischer in HD-53, a solidly Democratic seat for years. Fischer has also been a pretty successful first-term legislator in terms of carrying his bills into law and directing money for Colorado State University, which is within the district.

So far, Gallup has not registered with the Colorado Secretary of State's office. The Chronicle has left a phone message for Gallup in order to get more details on her campaign.
