More local media shuffling

It's not as scandalous as the Coloradoan's power play for the Collegian, but Brown Publishing Co. has purchased the Boulder County Business Report and, more interesting locally, the company's majority stake in the Northern Colorado Business Report. NCBR co-publisher Chris Wood will move down to Boulder to run that publication and other co-publisher Jeff Nuttall will entirely take the reins up here. According to a press release and a brief online article of the NCBR, no other major changes are being reported, but Brown Publishing is clearly positioning itself as an aspiring biz-journal empire.

From the NCBR:
"I'm excited about this, because of the opportunity we'll have to streamline our operations and better manage the production of our products," [Nuttall] said.

In the past six months, Brown Publishing has purchased the Des Moines Business Record in Iowa, the Charleston Regional Business Journal in South Carolina and the Fort Worth Business Press in Texas.

In the past year, Brown Publishing has been expanding its publishing presence in Ohio, as well as moving into other states. It also acquired Dan's Paper and other affiliated publications serving the exclusive Hamptons in New York.
