tonight and this weekend: harvey and daxx

The Harvey Project, a play by Dave Ulrich (pictured), makes its world premier tonight in Fort Collins thanks to openstage etc. The production runs tonight and tomorrow at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Armstrong Hotel, 259 S. College Ave. Tickets are $12.

Chronicle
theatre critic James Thompson interviewed Ulrich for this week's edition of the paper.

Also tonight and tomorrow night, Dax Riggs (pictured) plays the Larimer Lounge, 2721 Larimer St., in Denver. Both shows start at 8 p.m., both cost $8 in advance and $10 at the door, and both are for those 21 and up. Chronicle A&E editor Elliott Johnston writes:

Riggs sings about the devil a lot. Sure, the blues is supposed to be about selling your soul to Satan at the crossroads, but Riggs takes his garage band to an evil new level. Almost every song on his latest album, We Sing of Only Blood or Love, refers to some demon or Grim Reaper making things totally suck. But don’t fret: He sings about the whole brutal ordeal we call life with a glammy, David Bowie cool. Really, what would doom be without fashion sense?
